Bing Crosby, Bob Hope, and Dorothy Lamour

On the Road

Flyright Records

There isn't a series of films more endearing, funny and entertaining than the Road movies made by Bing Crosby, Bob Hope and Dorothy Lamour from 1939 to 1951. The films featured quick-witted humor, romantic adventure, and wonderful music. Many of those songs became standards of their day. On The Road assembles these memorable tunes in one easy spot for the first time. Every number from the first five Road films is included in this collection. (The Road to Bali, which contains the wonderful ''Moonflowers,'' is not a part of this set.) The songs are taken directly from the soundtrack -- jokes, quips and sound effects included, and even some of the more memorable bits of humor are given their turn, like the talking camels of Road to Morocco and the ''Sawing the Lady in Half Routine'' from Road to Zanzibar (Bing: ''Are you sure you know how to do that?'' Bob: ''If I don't, one of us is going to go back half-fare.'') Recommended.
