Bing Crosby: Love Songs

Bing Crosby

My Favorite Love Songs

MCA

Alternately titled just plain Love Songs, this CD is exactly that -- a collection of love songs, though if they're really Bing Crosby's favorites I don't know. The selection of material is quite pleasant, featuring some classic Bing numbers, like ''I Surrender Dear'' and ''The One I Love,'' both perfect representatives of the smooth Crosby style that set many a teenage girl to swoon. Also of note is ''Temptation,'' a wonderful number with its mysterious middle eastern flavor. (The song was later parodied by singer Jo Stafford and City Slicker Red Ingle; version available on Jo Stafford: Capitol Collector's Series.) All of the songs on this CD are in the mellow vein, with the exception of Just a Little Lovin' (Will Go a Long Way), an upbeat track done in a slightly-corny, old-fashioned style.

There are absolutely no liner notes for this CD. Composers aren't even identified. Neither is the female singer which with Bing duets on I'm Falling in Love with Someone and The Way You Look Tonight. Otherwise this CD is a pleasant journey through Bing Crosby's romantic material. His voice will always be golden.
