Babalu Music! I Love Lucy's Greatest Hits

No doubt I Love Lucy is the most popular television show of all time, and some of the most memorable moments on the program were the outlandish musical numbers put on by Desi Arnaz and company. Babalu Music! combines the best of these skits with recordings from Desi's 1950s radio program Your Tropical Trip to present a fun and interesting picture of his later work. Desi stopped recording with his orchestra in 1949 to concentrate his efforts on creating a television program, so this collection of tunes, compiled by Weird Al Yankovic, serves doubly as a collector's item for I Love Lucy fans and as a documentary of Desi's final performances.

Desi fans will notice many familiar tunes on this CD. Arnaz reprised several of his previous hits, in one form or another, during the series' seven-year run. Desi, as Ricky Ricardo, also performed several numbers specific to I Love Lucy, and some of those are included here also, like the hilarious Lucy/Ricky duets on ''We'll Build a Bungalow'' and ''By the Waters of the Minnetonka.'' Appearances by William Frawley, Vivian Vance and Bob Hope also add fun to the mix. Also included are Desi's two hit singles from 1953, a vocal version of the I Love Lucy theme song and ''There's a Brand New Baby in Our House,'' written by Desi for the birth of his daughter, Lucy, but reprised on the television series for the birth of Little Ricky.

This CD is a must-have for both fans of I Love Lucy and Desi Arnaz.
