Big band vocalist, sang with Charlie Barnet and Woody Herman in the early 1940s and with Shorty Sherock in the latter part of that decade. She appeared with Sherock's orchestra in their 1947 self-titled musical short. Wayne was married to arranger and orchestra leader Neal Hefti.
