Clarinetist Jerry Wald led an orchestra during the swing years and beyond. Wald idolized Artie Shaw, and this admiration was reflected in not only his band's sound but in its line-up, which utilized many ex-Shaw musicians. Members of Wald's orchestra over the years included Les Elgart, Ray Conniff, Nelson Riddle, Billy Bauer, Ray Simms, Bill Evans, Bobbie Dukoff, Bernie Privin, and Les Robinson. Wald's most memorable vocalist was Anita Boyer.
