
Radio and television orchestra leader Don Vorhees was active from the 1920s to the 1960s. A pianist, Vorhees began his career on Broadway, serving as musical director for Earl Carroll's Vanities. He later became conductor for CBS radio and then various NBC orchestras, including that heard on Ed Wynn's program in the 1930s. From 1942 to 1968 he served as conductor of the Bell Telephone Hour on both its radio and television incarnations. Don Vorhees passed away from pneumonia in 1989.
