Mississippi native Jeanne Carroll was popular with the Chicago jazz and blues crowd. During the war years Carroll sang with Charlie Agnew's orchestra, which was then based at the El Rancho in Las Vegas, and appeared in the low-budget Universal musical Sing a Jingle. She eventually returned to Chicago, where she continued to perform, recording for Adelphi Records. Currently living in Europe, she is very popular with German jazz and blues enthusiasts. Her daughter, Karen, is also a blues singer and currently records for the Delmark label.
