Vocalist Gracie Barrie sang for Abe Lyman's orchestra before marrying saxophonist Dick Stabile and joining his band in the mid-1930s. When Stabile was drafted in 1942 Barrie took over the orchestra, leading it under her own name. After the war she divorced Stabile and continued to sing as a solo artist until at least the early 1950s. In 1949 she appeared on television's Toast of the Town. Barrie also appeared in four Broadway shows between 1931 and 1941. Gracie Barrie is the sister of bandleader Dick Barrie.
