Johnny Carson

The theme song used by Johnny Carson during his tenure at The Tonight Show was once a pop hit for Annette Funicello. When Carson took over the program in 1962 he commissioned Paul Anka to compose its theme. Anka reworked an old composition, ''It's Really Love,'' which had been recorded by Funicello in 1959. The tune was given an instrumental treatment and renamed ''Johnny's Song.''

Due to the large amount of e-mail I receive, I can neither answer every request nor can I reply promptly. My schedule just does not allow it. Please don't take it personally if I don't respond. Most requests are for locating recordings or ''who sang that song?'' The answers to these questions can be surprisingly easy to find. Please consult the FAQs.
